Our Story

Matt and Cameron grew up in a small town in South Carolina where life happened outdoors. If they weren’t in school, they were in the woods — hunting, fishing, exploring creeks, or staying out just a little too long until it was almost too dark to find their way home.

​They stayed close through high school, but like most things, life eventually pulled them in different directions. ​At 17, Matt joined the Army. Over the next 20 years, he traveled the world — seeing places most people only hear about — and hunted and fished everywhere he could along the way. After retiring in Midlothian, Texas, one thing had never changed.

A passion for duck hunting.

Back in South Carolina, Cameron stepped into his family’s insurance business before eventually building his own path in real estate. Over time, he grew multiple businesses and now leads one of the top real estate teams in the state. But no matter how busy life became, the outdoors never left him. Hunting and fishing were still part of who he was.

Even though they didn’t see each other as often — maybe a few times a year — they stayed connected. Sometimes Cameron would fly into Dallas for work, and they’d catch up as if no time had passed.

Then came the call that changed everything.

Cameron had booked a hunt in South Louisiana and asked if Matt wanted to go. Late season. Pressured birds. Ducks that had heard every call in the marsh.

Sitting in that blind, watching birds flare and refuse to finish, the conversation started.

What if there was a call with more attitude?

Something nastier.
Louder.
Meaner than anything out there.

A call that sounded like a duck with something to say —
something ducks couldn’t ignore.

That moment in the blind turned into an idea.

And that idea became QUAX.
